In a press statement signed by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujare, the suspect had posed as a military officer working for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in Kabul, Afghanistan, when he began fleecing the woman identified as H. Uyen , after promising to marry her.
