Anambra state government has reacted to allegations being peddled by
IPOB members that military officers in the state have invaded some
schools and are injecting students with the monkeypox virus.
A statement released by the secretary to the state government, Solo
Chukwulobelu, says the military officers were in some schools in Ozubulu
in Ekwusigo local government area to carry out free medical outreach.
Some mischief-makers created tension in the area by claiming that the
soldiers were there to inject the students with the virus. Some parents
rushed to the schools to withdraw their wards.
The state government says it has contacted the military to put on
hold the medical outreach until the residents of the state are fully
sensitized. It also advised parents to stop withdrawing their children
from schools.
Here is the statement.
