FUNAI Promotes 177 Staff ─ Photos

In line with the promise of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, on assumption of duty, to always ensure that qualified, competent and productive staff receive their promotion as at when due, the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State has promoted 177 of its staff.

The breakdown of the number shows that 52 senior non-teaching, 34 teaching and 88 junior staff were promoted to the next rank with their letters of promotion dated 1^st October, 2017. Three of the teaching staff were promoted to the rank of Reader (Associate Professor). They are Dr. (Mrs.) Mary J. Eteng of the department of Sociology/Psychology/Criminology and Security Studies,Dr. Richard C. Ehiri of the department of Chemistry/Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Dr. Benedict O. Nweke of the department of Languages/ Linguistics/Literary Studies.

Some of the staff who received their letters of promotion yesterday were extremely happy with the development, expressing their gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for living up to his promise of ensuring that workers were promoted without hitches. They equally poured encomiums on the University Governing Council for approving their promotions.

Speaking after collecting his promotion letter, Engr. Friday Nkwo of the ICT department thanked the Vice Chancellor for being worker-friendly and a man of his word, stressing that the promotion would serve as a source of motivation for higher productivity.  He further enjoined other staff to join hands with the Vice Chancellor to achieve his vision of making FUNAI a reputable center of learning and research.

In their reaction to the staff promotion, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), FUNAI Chapter, through their chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Chigbata stated that the Vice Chancellor has once again shown that he has the interest of workers at heart, urging him not to rest on his oars in putting the welfare of staff in the front burner of his administration.  

He also assured the Vice Chancellor of the continuous support of the SSANU members in the drive to make FUNAI a world-class University, and advised the staff to take their duties seriously when they resume duty from the on-going national strike called by the Joint Action Council of SSANU, NASU and NAAT to press home their demands from the federal government.
