Security agents reportedly lay siege on Saraki, Ekweremadu’s residences
Ahead of his appearance for interrogation this morning, the Nigeria Police Force has mounted surveillance on the residence of the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki at Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama, Abuja.
Also, the road leading to the residence was sealed with Saraki’s convoy blocked for about 30 minutes. The convoy had taken off at about 7am but was delayed by the Police siege until 7.30am.
When the convoy was cleared to go, some police vehicles trailed it up to the National Assembly complex. It was gathered that the police team had acted on some clues that Saraki might not meet with detectives today.
But the Senate President was said to be prepared to honour the police invitation as at press time. “His position has not changed as I speak with you “, a source said.
In a related development, officials of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday morning laid siege to the residence of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Abuja. .
The move is said to be an apparent ploy to prevent them from making it to the National Assembly today because of an alleged plan by lawmakers to decamp en masse from APC.
