FUNAI Women Association Unveils Multi-million Naira Resource Centre






The FUNAI Women Association, an umbrella body of all female staff of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, yesterday, unveiled its multi-million naira Women Resource Centre at the University auditorium.
The Women Resource Center when completed would provide early child education to children of staff and others living around the University campus. It would also be a hub for equipping women and youths with hands-on skills and the right mental attitude to be self –reliant in a highly competitive world.

Declaring the event open, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba applauded the women for their great idea and thoughtfulness in trying to bridge the skill gap prevalent in the society by establishing a resource center in the institution, pledging the full support of the Management to the realization of their noble vision.
The Vice Chancellor who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Sunday Elom therefore urged staff and other invited guests to partner with the women by donating handsomely to make their vision a reality.
“Let us support them to ensure the vision is realized”, the Vice Chancellor stated.
Earlier, the President of the association, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinyere Nwajiuba noted that the FUNAI Women Association came into being in 2013 but became functional in 2016.

She stressed that their goal was to help in the development process of women, youths and children in order to advance their academic, social and economic lives. She added that the project was dear to her heart because of its emphasis on the need to have a balanced work-family life while also providing the opportunity for children to acquire the right values.
She further used the opportunity to thank the University Management for lending support to the vision.
In his opening speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Afam Icha-Ituma commended the association for being sensitive to the needs of staff and its surrounding areas.
He extolled the virtues of Dr. Nwajiuba for taking a bold step towards developing the capacities of women, youths and children in the areas of entrepreneurial activities, skills acquisition and early child education.
The event which was a milestone in the history of the University brought together people of all works of life, including the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Chief Engr. Dave Umahi, who was represented by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Bar. Cletus Ofoke.
