Late Professor Robert Nneli was a Valuable Staff – FUNAI VC




The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba has described the late Dean of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Prof. Robert Nneli as a valuable staff, who contributed immensely in furthering the vision of the University.
The Vice Chancellor made this known yesterday, during a valedictory senate session organized in memory of the fallen professor of human physiology at the Senate chamber.
“To say that professor Nneli was a valuable staff would be very obvious. He was an academic in the finest tradition of the vocation”, he stated.
The Vice Chancellor also noted the role the deceased played in ensuring the full accreditation of Physiology programme by the National Universities Commission, stressing that “he was a man of character and values… a man of colour.”
He further consoled the bereaved family on the irreplaceable loss, stressing that the worthy legacies of the late Nneli would continue to speak for him in the years to come.
The emotion-laden event which also involved the lying in state of the remains of the deceased at the administrative block saw staff of the University paying their last respect to the departed astute professional.
Meanwhile, the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences also held a symposium in the honour of the deceased who was the immediate past Dean of the faculty.
The events were attended by the immediate and extended families of the deceased that included the wife, son, daughter and the immediate younger brother.
Recall that Professor Nneli died in a fatal accident along Abakaliki – Enugu road, at 135, Ezzangbo, on April 13th, 2017.
