 UNIJOS Finally Moves To Permanent Site after 44 Years - See Features


The vice chancellor of University of Jos (UNIJOS), Prof. Sebastine Maimako, has ordered the staff to finally relocate to the institution’s permanent site after operating from the temporary site for 44 years Newsvib understands.

He gave this order while taking over the newly constructed administrative/Senate Building from the contractor on Monday.


According to him during a ceremony held at the project site, “I hereby directed all administrative staff of the university to move to the permanent site immediately.”


It might interest you to know that The movement to the permanent site has been gradual and in phases since 2010,  with the relocation of some of the faculties to the permanent site. The administrative and Senate sections, however, remained at the temporary site due to non-completion of the building for 10 years.

Prof. Maimako, who was visibly excited, expresses appreciation to the staff, who contributed to the success of the project.

He pleaded with the staff to use the facilities carefully.

Features of the permanent site:


The Senate Building is to accommodate management staff, lecturers and the administrative staff.

The building has 400 capacity Senate chambers with modern facilities, including emergency exit units.

The facility also has two committee rooms of 30 people seat each and one boardroom with a capacity of 30 people. It also has a 1000 KVA generator to provide independent energy to the building.
